Welcome to the official Butterfly Effect website

The Butterfly Effect brings women together for noncompetitive ocean sport gatherings in coastal cities all over the world. The aim is to instill self-confidence and a love for the ocean in women of all skill levels by providing one-day downwind events, ocean sport holiday trips, and/or ocean sport clinic trips.  The Butterfly Effect also aims to work with the local community by providing requested necessities, volunteer work and other community services. The overall dream for The Butterfly Effect is to continue to develop awareness and nurture relationships with the ocean which provides us waterwomen and men with the ultimate playground. This will help towards ensuring intergenerational sustainability of our pristine environment for our future “keiki” to enjoy.

The Butterfly Effect began in Hawaii in 2007 by water women, Tatiana Howard and Juliana Shelef. Since then it Tatiana and/or Juliana have flown to organize the event in Brazil, New Zealand, France, United States (Oregon and Hawaii), Germany, Tahiti, Dominican Republic, Fiji, Israel, and Australia for group surf sessions and clinics.  The main sports have been windsurfing, stand-up paddle, and kiting but does not limit itself to other sports that have been done such as wake boarding, surf, and kayak. Each gathering also includes safety and stretching sessions, as well as food and gear from local sponsors and fund raising for local charities. Hundreds of women around the world have already participated in these fun and non-competitive gatherings.
